Who We Are

Girls Hearts on Fire (GHOF) is a comprehensive youth development organization empowering girls in grades 3–12 across the Greater Tacoma area. We create safe, supportive spaces where girls build confidence, strengthen their identity, and develop leadership skills that prepare them for success in school, relationships, and life.

Our work is rooted in positive youth development and designed to support the whole girl — emotionally, socially, and practically — through mentorship, social-emotional learning, leadership development, and real-world opportunities.

Our Why

The years leading up to age 14 are a critical window for shaping long-term outcomes. When girls have access to consistent mentorship, supportive relationships, and meaningful leadership opportunities early on, they are more likely to thrive academically, develop resilience, and envision a future filled with possibility.

GHOF exists to ensure girls are not navigating these formative years alone. We build pathways that strengthen mental wellness, encourage self-worth, and help girls grow into confident young women who lead with purpose.

What We Do

GHOF equips girls with the skills and support they need to thrive through:

  • Leadership development and youth voice opportunities
  • Social-emotional learning and emotional wellness tools
  • Mentorship and belonging-focused community
  • Healthy communication and relationship-building skills
  • Workforce readiness and life skills
  • Post-secondary and career exploration opportunities

Our programming is designed to be engaging, hands-on, and responsive to the real experiences girls face at each stage of development.

🔥 Sparks (Grades 3–5)
Building confidence, emotional awareness, communication skills, and belonging.

🔥 Flames (Grades 6–8)
Strengthening identity, leadership, healthy relationships, and self-expression.

🔥 Blaze (Grades 9–12)
Providing mentorship, mental wellness support, purpose exploration, and post-secondary readiness.

To empower girls to harness their power in order to create and sustain a culture of sisterhood, leadership, and economic advancement; through holistic programs, education and experiences.

We walk alongside girls through key transitions — from elementary school to middle school, and from high school into post-secondary pathways — ensuring they are never navigating these moments alone. Our work is rooted in care, consistency, and the belief that every girl has the power to shape her future.
