You may have heard from your family or friends about a new year s Resolution. The New Year is always a great time tomake goals and commit to them throughout the year. So whynot begin with making a commitment to your health and happi-ness?
Goal: Be more active! 30-60 minutes a day
Each of us can enjoy more physical activity in our lives like:
♦ Go for a walk/run in a park nearby
♦ Playing a favorite sport
♦Go for a bike ride
Why? Getting more physical activity can help us feel happy andmore energetic!
And while it is a new year it is still Winter. Here in the PacificNorthwest, the sun shines far less and it rains frequently whichcan make going outside and being social less desirable. But just because the weather is dreary doesn’t mean you have tostay inside and become isolated. To combat those gloomy feel-ings let’s make a goal to do one or a combination of the follow-ing:
♦ Call a friend or family member
Over Winter Break, you may have been able to connect withfriends or family you hadn’t seen in a long time. You can keepthose connections strong by giving them a call and saying,“Hello!”
♦ Join a club at school
Do you know what clubs your school offers after class?Your teacher or school counselor may know of a few.Or you can click on the following link and choose yourschool listed under the “Schools” tab and check outwhat clubs your school is offering.
If you have an idea about starting your own club, schedule an appointment with your guidance counselor or get in contact with student government and share your ideas! You never know what may happen by asking. You could decide to run for student government one day!
